The Fine Prints

How It Works

1. Download the order form from here.


2. Fill up the order form and send it to taobao.intl@gmail.com. Please provide alternatives if possible in the remarks column.


3. We will receive your order and verify the availability of your requested items with the online merchant.


4. In the event of Out of Stock (OOS) items, we will follow your alternative instructions in the submitted order form (i.e. change to another colour/size or merchant) or cancel the order for the item after consultation with you.


5. When your order is finalised, we will quote a confirmed exchange rate and the amount due for the 1st payment.


6. Once the amount for 1st payment has been received by us, we will commence with the ordering of the requested items. No requests for amendments, cancellations or refunds will be possible once payment has been made. However, in the event the occurrence of OOS items after payment, we will notify you through your email address and the excess amount will be used to offset the 2nd payment for the International Shipping charges.


7. The items received would be consolidated for international shipping. The 2nd payment would have to be made prior to the commencement of international shipping. A tracking number for the shipment would be provided once the requested items have been sent for international shipping.


8. Customers who wish to save on remittance charges may opt for the alternative single payment method. We will provide a single payment amount which includes the item price, agent fee and the international shipping charges (based on the estimated weight of the items). A tracking number for the shipment would be provided once the shipment has been sent for international shipping.


9. The items should arrive at your desired location within 7 days after the commencement of shipping.


10. Under normal conditions, it will take a minimum of 2 weeks from the commencement of the ordering process till delivery to the customer.

Terms and Conditions

1. Everyone is welcomed! This includes any individual who is interested to buy from Taobao, along with spree organisers/blog owners and also retail merchants.


2. No amendments, cancellations or refunds (other than for OOS items) would be allowed once the 1st payment has been made.


3. 2nd payment would have to be made prior to commencement of international shipping. Items whose international shipping charges are not paid for 6 weeks after our 1st notification will be disposed of at our discretion. (Not applicable for customers who opt for single payment method.)


4. Items may be held by customs authority for inspection. This would cause additional delays for the shipment and result in exceeding the minimum of 2 weeks for delivery.


5. We will not be responsible for any delay or damages caused by customs inspection.


6. Please refrain from purchasing replica/imitation items and prohibited/contraband items. Items or the whole shipment may be confiscated by the customs authorities if such items are found.


7. Prohibited items include food items, liquids, cigarettes, powder substances and replicas/imitation items.


8. We will not be responsible if your shipment is confiscated due to any customs regulation infringements!!


9. Any import taxes or other fees incurred will be borne by the buyer. For more information, please check with the relevant customs authorities at the shipping destination.


10. For shipping to Singapore, a 7% Goods and Services Tax (GST) might be incurred for orders exceeding SGD 400.


11. While we will exercise our utmost diligence during the ordering process, you will agree that we will not be held responsible in the event that the merchant sends us wrong or defective items.


12. There may be a discrepancy in the colour and quality between the items delivered and the photographs on the website. Please check the reputation of the Taobao merchants prior to ordering.


13. We will not be responsible should any items become lost or damaged during shipment.


14. We reserve the right to turn down any orders, or parts of any order should we feel that we are unable to satisfactorily complete your order.

Additional Terms and Conditions for payment via PayPal [No longer applicable, archived for reference]

1. An additional charge of 4% will be added on top of the total cost (i.e. item price + local courier + international shipping fees) to cover the transaction charges incurred with the usage of this payment option.


2. A minimum spending of HKD 600 per transaction is required (including the additional 4% transaction charges).


3. Payment shall be made to us as Personal payments --> payment owed, under the "Send Money" tab.


4. By making your payment to us through PayPal, you will be deemed as having agreed to indemnify us from any subsequent chargebacks (along with any additional fees that may be incurred) that you may initiate through your card issuing bank/company for any reasons, and have voluntarily waived your rights to any claims with PayPal with the only exception of non-delivery of shipment.

While we understand that the Terms and Conditions listed above are a little harsh and may seem grossly unfair to you, but please do understand that we only provide buying service on your behalf and is not affiliated with the Taobao sellers which you may select on Taobao.com.

Taobao International is based in Singapore and Hong Kong and provides buying agent services to international customers who are interested to buy items from Taobao.com (淘宝网). This idea originally started from helping friends and relatives to buy from Taobao.com. While there are many interesting items avaliable on Taobao.com, there is also a huge barrier when it comes to the payment for these items along with the lack of shipping services for customers from international locations.

Our team, educated in former British colonies of Singapore and Hong Kong, we are able to converse fluently in English for our international customers while conveying our customers' requirements efficiently to the Taobao's online merchants in Mandarin, Cantonese and Taiwanese.

We also provide international shipping for the items bought on Taobao.com (淘宝网) from Mainland China to any international location worldwide.

Our Philosophy

Being a service provider, we believe in providing the best shopping experience for everyone who uses our services.

While others are eager to jump right in to provide their payment details, we believe that it is a responsibility to receive your money. So, we will only provide our payment details to receive your payment when we have verified the availability of your order with the online merchants. Through this method of ordering, we hope to eliminate overpayment on your part in the event of Out of Stock (OOS) items.

Our two step payment system allows for an accurate quote on the international shipping charges without over-estimation of the shipment weight and to protect your interests.

Why Use Our Service

We are an agent who directly deals with Taobao's online merchants on your behalf and you can be assured of a prompt response when it comes to the verification of the availability for your requested items. We believe in providing the best service possible by minimising your waiting time and sending the items directly to your location right from the source!

We charge a low agent fees of only 10% of your total order and provide a generous 30% savings on the published EMS International Shipping Charges with no other additional charges such as item or shipping handling charges.

We will also provide the relevant advisory when it comes to selection of Taobao's online merchants along with the customs regulations when required.

For bulk orders from spree organisers, blog owners and retail merchants, we will do our best to negotiate for the best price and pass on the savings to you!

Our Charges

Our charges consists of 2 components, namely

1. Item Price and Agent Fees (1st Payment)
2. International Shipping (2nd Payment)
   

Item Price and Agent Fees (1st Payment)

We charge a 10% agent fee for all items purchased. The 10% agent fee is calculated based on the Item Price (一口价) + Local courier (快递) within Mainland China. However, please note that the agent fee subjected to a minimum of 30 RMB per order.

If you are located within Mainland China but is unable to buy from Taobao.com for any reasons (such as language, etc), you are most welcomed to use our services. In this case, we will only charge an agent fee of 10% on the Item Price (一口价) + Local courier (快递) and have the items delivered directly from the merchant to your mailing address!

International Shipping

For our international customers, we highly recommend EMS International shipping for the delivery of your order. However, we are able to offer other forms of of courier such as Hong Kong Post, DHL, FedEx, etc.

A. EMS International Shipping

We are currently offering a 30% discount for EMS International Shipping based on the published rates. The published rates for Singapore and Hong Kong are as follow:


We are also able to ship internationally to other countries/regions worldwide such as United States, Canada, Australia, Europe, Central America, South America, Africa and all of Asia. More information on the shipping charges to these regions can be obtained by contacting us.

All parcels are limited to a maximum of 20 kg.

Please note that the weight will be inclusive of packaging materials (i.e. box, bubble wrap, etc). For bulky items, volumetric weight will be used for shipping calculations instead of the actual weight.

Calculation Example

If you have purchased items with their cost and local courier at a total of 750 RMB with a total weight of 2.45 kg to be delivered to Singapore using EMS, and you would like to pay in SGD.

1st Payment

Item cost + Local Courier = 750 RMB
Agent fee = 750 x 0.1 = 75 RMB
Amount due for 1st payment = 750 x 1.1 = 825 RMB
Amount due for 1st payment in SGD = 825 x 0.228* = 188.10 SGD

2nd Payment

Total item weight of 2.45 kg
Initial 0.5 kg = 190 RMB
Subsequent 0.5 kg = 45 RMB
Total cost = 190 + 4 x 45 = 370 RMB
After 30 % discount = 0.7 x 370 = 259 RMB
Amount due for 2nd Payment in SGD = 259 x 0.228* = 59.05 SGD

Total Cost

Total Cost = 1st Payment + 2nd Payment = 257.15 SGD

Payment Details

We accept local intra-bank transfers for Singapore, Hong Kong and Mainland China.

Payment can be made via the following banks:

Bank account details information for payment will be provided upon confirmation of orders.

Upon payment, please send us an email to inform us on the payment details (such as transaction number, date and amount) along with the reference number which we have provided on the receipt of your order.

We will provide you with a confirmation email once the payment has been verified. Kindly print/save a copy of your payment advice in the event of any unforeseen problems.

For buyers from other regions, we currently also accept payment in Hong Kong Dollars (HKD) via the following methods:
